Can I trade news on FundingPips 2 Step Standard ($100K CFD/FX)?
FundingPips' $100,000 2 Step Standard evaluation has no ordinary news restriction, but deliberately trading high-impact news to exploit its volatility closes the account in any phase. On the funded Master account, profits from affected-currency trades opened or closed in restricted news or speech windows are deducted, unless the position was opened at least five hours before the event. That exception does not remove the prohibition on deliberate news exploitation. A profit deduction can itself cause a daily or maximum loss breach.

Evaluation and Master account treatment
| Stage | What the news rule means |
|---|---|
| Evaluation | No ordinary news-window restriction. Deliberately exploiting high-impact news volatility still closes the account. |
| Funded Master account | The profit-deduction rule applies to openings and closings around high-impact news or speeches on the affected currency, subject to the five-hour exception. Deliberate news exploitation still closes the account. |
Which restricted window applies?
For a high-impact news release at a scheduled time, the Master-account window runs from five minutes before to five minutes after that time.
For a high-impact speech, it runs from five minutes before the speech begins until five minutes after it ends. The speech's duration is part of the restricted period, so the window is not necessarily ten minutes long.
A trade opened earlier that day is not automatically exempt: it must have been opened at least five hours before the event.
The deduction concerns the affected trade's profit. It is a separate consequence from account closure for deliberately exploiting news volatility. However, if removing that profit causes a daily or maximum loss breach, the trader remains responsible for that breach.
An illustrative announcement at 14:00
All times below are invented, use the same clock, and describe a single scheduled high-impact announcement, not a speech. Assume each trade concerns the affected currency, closes in profit at 14:02, and is not part of deliberate news exploitation. The announcement window is 13:55 to 14:05.
| Position opened | Treatment of the 14:02 close |
|---|---|
| 08:30 | Opened five hours and 30 minutes before the event. The five-hour exception applies to the news-window profit deduction. |
| 09:30 | Opened four hours and 30 minutes before the event. The exception does not apply, so the affected profit is deducted. |
Both positions were open before the restricted window. Their different opening times change the treatment of the same closing time.

The evidence
| Rule | What the terms say | Checked |
|---|---|---|
| News trading | Evaluation: no news restriction, but deliberately trading news closes the account in any phase. Master Account: profit from trades opened or closed on the affected currency from 5 minutes before to 5 minutes after high-impact news, or from 5 minutes before a high-impact speech begins to 5 minutes after it ends, is deducted, unless the trade was opened 5 hours or more before. The trader is responsible if a deduction breaches the daily or maximum loss limit. | 18 October 2026 |
