If You Can Trade on Weekends, Should You?

Weekend access is useful when it solves a scheduling problem and fits the method you intend to trade. The fact that an account permits it is not, by itself, a reason to extend your trading week. For a perpetual prop account, first distinguish replacing unavailable weekday sessions from adding sessions to a week that already works.

Consider two hypothetical schedules. In the first, weekday commitments leave you unable to attend the sessions your plan calls for, but you can set aside time on weekends. In the second, you already trade your planned weekday sessions and are considering Saturday simply because the account is available.

The first schedule gives you a reason to investigate a different session. The second needs a reason beyond access.

When the weekend replaces a weekday

Your free time tells you when you can trade. Your method determines whether those hours are useful. A method built around a particular weekday event cannot simply be moved to Saturday because your calendar has room.

Look at evidence from weekend sessions for the setup you intend to trade. A session you can attend, but which offers no suitable setup, does not solve the original scheduling problem.

If your weekdays belong to a job, trading around a full-time job covers whether the account fits the week you can keep.

What permission to hold gives you

For E8 Markets E8 One perpetuals, $100,000, at its standard settings, the holding rule says:

Allowed in both stages: positions can be held overnight and over the weekend. Gaps, slippage or widened spreads that cause a violation are the trader's responsibility.

You can keep a position open through the weekend in evaluation and the Performance stage. E8 still holds you responsible if a gap, slippage or wider spread causes a breach.

For Propr Classic 1-Step perpetuals, 100,000 USDC, the corresponding rule is:

Allowed: no overnight or weekend holding restriction; crypto markets trade 24/7.

Propr also permits holding in evaluation and the funded stage. Being allowed to hold a position is not the same as being able to manage it at every hour. Propr's evaluation terms allow temporary interruptions for maintenance and upgrades, as PFW's perpetuals guide notes.

Before planning a Saturday session on either account, check that your symbol takes the orders you need at that hour. A general crypto-market schedule does not answer that for every symbol. The perpetual-account comparison covers the broader differences between their rules.

When the weekend adds to a week that works

If you already trade your planned weekday sessions, a Saturday session needs a reason of its own: a setup you have evaluated for those hours. It also draws on the account's remaining loss room. For the same E8 One account:

A dynamic drawdown of $6,000 below the highest closed balance: the loss level rises only when a profit is closed, never with open profit, and locks for good at the initial balance once the closed profit reaches $6,000. A daily drawdown of $4,000: each day at 00:00 server time (UTC+3, UTC+2 from early November) the loss level is the day's starting balance less $4,000. Both stages. Equity or balance reaching or falling below either level permanently closes the account.

E8 recalculates the daily loss level each day. The overall loss level still follows your highest closed balance until it locks; a new day does not reset it. Propr Classic 1-Step also resets its daily limit, but its overall limit stays fixed:

Maximum drawdown 6% static: the equity limit is 94,000 USDC, set at the start and never moving. Maximum daily loss 3% of the start-of-day balance, reset at 00:00 UTC: the day's equity floor is that balance less 3%. Both limits are on equity, including floating profit and loss, in both stages; touching either breaches the account for good and closes its positions.

On both accounts, a new daily limit does not replenish the overall loss allowance. Losing in that extra session leaves less room for the weekday sessions you already planned.

For E8 One, weekend trading does not bring weekend payout processing either:

No deadline is promised. E8 gives medians for 1 January to 1 May 2026: 11 hours from request to approval, and 24 hours to the funds arriving in the Rise or WorkMarket account. The process can take up to 5 business days, and payouts are not processed at weekends. The terms of service say payments are processed within 7 days.

E8 does not process payouts at weekends. A payout request made on Saturday waits for the working week, and even then no deadline is promised.

PFW's view: replace sessions only when the method fits the hours; add one only when you have a reason for it and enough remaining loss room to carry it. Permission gives you an option, not an obligation to use every available day.
