FTMO 1-Step: Merging an Older Account Ends the Legacy Rule
For an FTMO 1-Step Standard account directly initiated from an order before 12 October 2026, merging on or after that date ends the Legacy Best Day Rule. The merged account follows Consistency, and the merge cannot be undone. Combining older accounts therefore means giving up the more forgiving rule.

What changes after a merge
The published change record covers FTMO 1-Step Standard accounts in CFD/FX. For a concrete reference, the funded-stage rule for FTMO · 1-Step Standard · $100,000 currently reads:
On the funded FTMO Account, the best day may be at most 50% of total profit before a reward. Accounts ordered before 12 October 2026 keep the Best Day Rule: at most 50% of the profit of all positive days. No minimum number of trading days.
Read the earlier-order sentence with the merge condition: an account merged on or after 12 October 2026 follows Consistency, including one from an earlier order.
The Legacy Best Day Rule compares the best day with the profit of positive days only; Consistency compares it with total profit, which subtracts losing days too. For the same profitable period and best day, Consistency is never easier to meet, and losing days make it harder.
Exceeding the limit is not a breach under either rule: more profit is needed before a Reward. The consistency guide's worked example shows how the two calculations differ. The consequence for an older holder is that merging changes the profit test they must satisfy, even though they have bought no new account.
Which accounts can be merged
Under FTMO's merging conditions, only accounts from the same product and base currency that are unused, with no trade executed, can be merged. If trading has already begun, FTMO says withdrawing the Reward can satisfy that unused-account condition. The other merger conditions still apply.
That limits the relevance of earlier trading days. An unused account has none. An account that has been traded must first have its Reward withdrawn to satisfy that condition, so the earlier days in question belong to a period already rewarded.
The narrower question after a Reward
The reviewed FTMO 1-Step wording does not say whether the calculation restarts after a Reward. This is a question about the treatment of a rewarded period, including when accounts are subsequently merged. It does not leave the merged account's rule in doubt: Consistency applies.
For an account that has already been used, a useful question for FTMO would be:
If these older FTMO 1-Step Standard accounts have their Rewards withdrawn and are then merged, will trading days from before those withdrawals count toward the merged account's Consistency check for its next Reward?
That asks about the part the reviewed wording leaves open, without assuming that the calculation resets or that earlier days carry over.
Is one account worth giving up the Legacy rule?
The benefit of merging is concrete: a combined balance with correspondingly adjusted drawdown limits, and one account to manage. For a trader already handling several older accounts, reducing that administration may be worthwhile.
Staying unmerged preserves the Legacy rule on those older accounts. That is worth weighing carefully if your profitable periods include losing days between strong ones. You can value having fewer accounts to manage and still decide that keeping the existing profit test matters more.
PFW's view: weigh the known rule change first. If the unresolved treatment of days before a withdrawn Reward could change your choice, clarify that point before merging. The benefit of one account should be worth the conditions you are accepting.
