Same Total Profit, Different Payout Eligibility: A $50K Futures Study

Ten $300 gains qualified for a first payout request in 25 of 32 rule tests. One $2,100 gain followed by nine $100 gains earned exactly the same $3,000, but qualified in only eight. Every account could complete both histories. What changed was how the profit was distributed across days.

A third history made $1,800, gave back $1,200 in one trade, then recovered to $3,000 on paper. Only 21 of the 32 tests allowed the trader to finish that path. Twelve qualified for a request, nine finished but could not request, ten were interrupted and one ended in a hard breach. The eleven stopped paths never earned the planned recovery.

How often could a first request be submitted?

The check is at 17:01 Chicago time on Friday, 15 January 2027, under the rules of PFW's 2 November 2026 release and the two official readings identified below. All three hypothetical histories use that same instant. The 32 tests cover 29 account configurations at nine firms; three configurations offer two funded payout paths apiece. Each permitted choice gets its own verdict. These counts describe the specified histories, not the chances that a trader will be paid.

“Eligible” means that at least one positive request fits the documented rules at the check time. “Not yet eligible” means the account finished the history but at least one condition still blocked submission. An interrupted history stopped before the planned exit; a hard breach ended the account. The outcome file leaves Friday profit and balance blank for both kinds of stopped path. No final verdict was unresolved, although some individual rules or account states remain uncertain.

The contrast is especially clear on Tradeify Select. With one large winning day, its Daily policy permits a request; Flex does not have the five qualifying days it needs. Add the losing trade instead, and the result reverses: Flex completes the mixed history and qualifies, while Daily's $1,000 loss limit interrupts Wednesday's trade. The choice is made after passing, under the same $50K account listing.

Which accounts are in the study?

The selection includes every canonical USD $50,000 futures configuration in the PFW catalogue on the frozen release, including direct-entry accounts. Each starts at funded activation with no earlier trades, payout, carried profit or credit. A $50,000 label does not imply $50,000 of cash: Topstep's Express Funded Account, for example, starts its displayed balance at zero.

Each Topstep purchase route is tested on both funded payout paths, Standard and Consistency. Tradeify Select is tested on both Flex and Daily. All other configurations contribute one test each: 29 configurations plus three additional paths gives 32 tests per history and 96 results. The purchase options and earlier-account cohorts are held to the baseline identified in each frozen rule record.

Three ways to plan the same $3,000

The account activates at 09:00 Chicago time on Monday, 4 January. There is one trade per weekday session on 4–8 and 11–15 January, open at 10:00 and closed at 10:05. Within those five minutes, net equity rises or falls evenly by the stated amount with no additional excursion. There is no position overnight. The dollar results already include trading charges, counted once.

Here “profit” is the signed sum of gains and losses. The assumed calendar applies the frozen rules to synthetic dates; it does not predict the rules in force in 2027. All ten sessions are credited by the check where the history completes. No earlier payout is requested. The trader uses a permitted instrument and size, observes trading and activity requirements, and meets the identity, location and other non-trading conditions.

One losing trade, three different account outcomes

On Wednesday, 6 January, the mixed history starts the trade with $1,800 of profit. The planned loss grows by $4 per second. At 10:04:10 it reaches $1,000, 50 seconds before the planned exit. At 10:05:00 it reaches $1,200.

Funded configurationWhat happens to Wednesday's trade
Apex EOD Trail StandardTuesday's close puts the account in a tier with a $1,000 daily limit. At 10:04:10 the position is liquidated and trading pauses for the session. The trigger is at $50,800; it does not establish the fill price. The account stays active, but the prescribed trade cannot finish.
FTMO ProThe $1,000 daily rule is hard. At the same 10:04:10 trigger, the funded account ends. This is the study's one breach.
Tradeify GrowthIts $1,250 daily trigger is $50 beyond the trade's worst loss. The $51,800 previous closing high puts the overall threshold at $49,800. The low of $50,600 leaves $800 above it. The trade closes as planned and the account goes on to qualify.

Across the mixed history, nine interrupted tests leave the account active, though the pause differs. Apex and My Funded Futures Builder stop trading until the next session, FundedNext Direct for the rest of the day and E8 Signature until 00:00 server time; the FTMO Growth and Tradeify Select Daily rows do not say for how long. The tenth, FundedNext Rapid Daily, also reaches its $1,000 limit before the exit. Its released row does not say whether the account remains active. We can settle what happened to the trade without inventing what happened to the account. Apex's daily-limit explanation, checked 3 November 2026, confirms liquidation at the prevailing price and the session pause for its accounts.

All five Lucid configurations meet the $1,200 limit at the planned exit, rather than 50 seconds before it. Under the stipulated path, the trade closes for its prescribed loss and there is nothing left to trade that session. The pause therefore interrupts none of the five histories. Both LucidDaily variants, LucidFlex and LucidPro qualify on Friday. LucidDirect completes the path but its 20% consistency limit is lower than the 30% best-day share. An earlier touch or a different fill would require a new calculation. The daily-loss guide distinguishes pauses from breaches; the overall drawdown guide separates updating a threshold from enforcing it.

Why did one large gain qualify less often?

All ten days in the concentrated history make money. Only one reaches $150. In the even history all ten reach $150; in the mixed history nine do, where the account survives. A profitable session can add to the balance without adding to a qualifying-day count.

Consistency: three traded days and largest day at most 40% of total net profit10 traded days; 10% passes10 traded days; 70% fails10 traded days; 30% passes

The table isolates the trading tests. On the base Topstep Standard purchase route, no optional daily limit is added at purchase or funded activation. On Wednesday the zero-based funded balance falls from $1,800 to $600; its overall threshold is still at −$200. The account completes the trade. Whether it can actually submit a request on Friday depends on the window below.

Tradeify Growth requires five days above $150 and a best day at or below 35% of net profit. No input equals $150, so its qualifying-day counts also come out ten, one and nine. The concentrated history misses both tests despite reaching the required $53,000 balance. Even and mixed both qualify: equality meets the balance rule, and all trades and profits come from positions held five minutes, longer than the ten-second test. LucidDirect and Tradeify Lightning Funded likewise reach their $3,000 first-payout goals exactly; their 20% consistency tests still block the concentrated and mixed histories.

On the mixed path the best day's $900 is 30% of $3,000 net profit, or about 21.4% of the $4,200 gained on positive days. The study uses the rule's net-profit basis. Using the other denominator as a sensitivity check does not change a verdict here; it can matter on another history. The5ers measures the best trade, which equals the best day only because there is one trade per day. See which denominator a consistency rule uses and which sessions count as profitable days.

What closes the request window after the trading tests pass?

Topstep's payout policy, checked 3 November 2026, ends the ordinary weekly request window on Friday at 17:00 CT, excluding holidays. At the study's check one minute later, the window is closed on both funded payout paths under both purchase routes. All 12 Topstep results are therefore not yet eligible.

That page supplies a restriction absent from the release rows. It changes eight verdicts: the four Topstep tests on the even history and the four on the mixed history would otherwise qualify. The four concentrated-history results were already blocked by qualifying days or consistency. Moving the check back a minute would ask a different question. The outcome download records both versions of the calculation.

Of the seven not-yet-eligible tests on the even history, the other three are waiting on account or trade age. The5ers Day Trade and Swing count 14 days from activation at 09:00. My Funded Futures Pro counts from the first trade at 10:00. At Friday's check only 11 days, 7 hours and 1 minute have elapsed from that trade. The modeled 14-day thresholds fall on 18 January at 09:00 and 10:00 respectively; reaching a time threshold does not settle the other requirements.

Lucid's in-session access on DLL-on accounts is an additional way to request; it does not prohibit other request times. Tradeify's Growth payout policy discusses processing requests submitted outside business hours. A slower review differs from a closed submission window. See the stages of a first payout.

Can the account request even the minimum?

On LucidFlex, DLL on, the even history ends with $53,000 on the account and $3,000 of profit. Lucid's payout page describes a 50% limit using account balance in its text and profit in its table. A $500 request fits under both readings and the $2,000 dollar cap. By the eighth close the balance is $52,400; the loss threshold is already locked at $50,100. A $500 debit would leave a $52,500 balance, $2,400 above that threshold. The conflict matters to a larger request, but it does not change this yes-or-no result.

My Funded Futures Pro illustrates the reverse. With $3,000 profit and a $2,100 buffer, only $900 lies above the buffer. The record does not settle whether its entire $1,000 minimum must come from that $900, or whether clearing the buffer suffices. The amount test stays unresolved. Its 14-day wait nevertheless blocks all three requests at the specified time. That is why the cohort has zero unresolved final verdicts even though some evidence is uncertain. On the Rapid configurations a $500 minimum fits either reading.

For the amount available once a request is permitted, see how payout caps and profit splits combine and the separate first-payout cap study. The post-payout buffer guide explains the loss room after the debit.

Results by account and funded payout path

Each row is one $50K rule test. Not yet names the blocking condition on a completed history. Interrupted means the daily $1,000 limit stopped Wednesday's prescribed trade at 10:04:10 CT. The sole breach occurred at that same time. A closed Topstep window uses the official policy checked on 3 November 2026.

Six tests allowed a request under all three histories: E8 Zero Max and Starter, both LucidDaily variants, and My Funded Futures Rapid and Rapid EOD. These particular paths meet their payout conditions and suffer no early stopping event. The 96-row outcome file gives the full reason, account state and available metrics for each result. It does not estimate which account is easiest to trade.

Sources and method

This study freezes PFW's 2 November 2026 approved release. The three inputs and the check time were specified before the outcomes were calculated. Each trade was followed second by second through the funded daily loss test and the applicable end-of-day, intraday or midnight overall threshold. A hard breach or early forced exit ends that history. For each completed path the study tests trading days, concentration, waits, submission window, and whether the minimum request fits the applicable balance, buffer and cap.

The source records retain their own check dates. Two supplemental readings on 3 November 2026 are recorded separately: Topstep's request hours change eight classifications; Apex's liquidation rule clarifies the account state after an early exit and changes no verdict. No approval, payout size received, transfer time or probability of reproducing the trades is inferred.

The reading codes in the files identify assumptions that matter to reproduction; the readings file gives each in full. R1–R5 distinguish an exact-close touch from an early loss stop and record the resulting account state. R6 handles minimum requests and buffers. R7–R9 identify the starting event for the wait and the basis for consistency. R10–R12 cover equality at a goal, crediting the session and submission hours. R13–R15 cover assumed compliance, separate funded payout paths and weekday activity. R16–R17 define when trails lock and how The5ers' 4% threshold is measured. For example, before E8 Zero's first payout its $1,500 trail still rises: on Wednesday it sits at $50,300, only $300 below the $50,600 low.

For the purchase and funded-account choices behind three of these examples, see the Topstep, Lucid and Tradeify futures comparison.
