Evaluation & risk

Opening loss allowance

Opening loss allowance: $5,000On the funded account, as there is no evaluation

How this is calculated. The funded account's opening balance minus its opening total-loss floor. The account is bought without an evaluation, so its own allowance is used.

Funded account opening balance
$100,000
Funded account opening total-loss floor
$95,000
Result
$5,000

Daily loss limits and any trailing of the floor after the opening are separate rules.

Official sources: Alpha Capital Group · Prop Firm Evaluations (product page and checkout) (checked 14 October 2026); Alpha Capital Group · Alpha Direct (checked 14 October 2026); Alpha Capital Group · What is the Maximum Total Loss? (checked 14 October 2026).

About this rule. How much the account can lose from its opening balance before the total-loss rule is broken, using the smallest allowance across the required evaluation phases. An account bought without an evaluation uses its funded account's allowance. It is not daily headroom, live capital or a pass probability.

Read the guide: How do you calculate the opening loss allowance?

Difficulty ratio

Difficulty ratio: 0.00No evaluation or profit target

How this is calculated. For each required evaluation phase, the profit target divided by that phase's opening loss allowance. The results are added. The account is bought without an evaluation and has no profit target, so the ratio is 0.

Required evaluation phases
None
Funded account opening loss allowance
$5,000
Result

This describes the shape of the evaluation; it is not a pass probability.

Official sources: Alpha Capital Group · Prop Firm Evaluations (product page and checkout) (checked 14 October 2026); Alpha Capital Group · Alpha Direct (checked 14 October 2026); Alpha Capital Group · What is the Maximum Total Loss? (checked 14 October 2026).

About this rule. Each required phase's profit target divided by that phase's opening loss allowance, added together. More target per dollar of allowed loss gives a higher number; an account bought without an evaluation has no target, so its ratio is 0. It describes the shape of the evaluation, not the chance of passing.

Total and daily loss

Total and daily loss: 5% maximum drawdown trailing the high-water mark (the highest balance reached): the floor starts at $95,000, rises with each new balance high and stops at the $100,000 initial balance once the balance reaches $105,000. 3% daily loss from the higher of the day's starting balance or equity ($3,000 at $100,000), the day starting at 00:00 broker time. Breaching either closes the account.

Contractual penalties

Contractual penalties: Breaching the daily or maximum drawdown is a hard breach that closes the account. On the Qualified Analyst account, an open loss on one asset reaching 1% ($1,000), with losing positions on that asset combined and a re-entry in the same direction within 10 minutes counted together, closes the account. The lot limit is 40 lots: a first violation makes the profit from the excess lots ineligible, a second forfeits the performance fee and deactivates the account. Under the 2-minute average trade duration rule a breach removes all profits and resets the account to its initial balance. Gambling-style trading leads to removed profits and possibly termination of the contract.
